Building the perfect wine and cheese dish doesn’t need to be difficult. With the right wine pairings to go with your cheeses, you have a perfect dish for any cocktail party. In researching the perfect pairings, we found that the lively acidity and an absence of tannins means that white wines work better with cheeses than most reds (you’ll only find one that made the list)! We chose the high quality-Irish grass-fed cheeses from Kerrygold to pair with some of our favorite wines on the market. And, we have some more creative pairings that think outside the box a bit so you can plan the perfect wine and cheese pairings for any party.
Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco Superiore with Dubliner
For something more festive, kick off your party with bubbles! We love Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco Superiore –the crisp, creamy and fruit-laced wine is very refreshing and comes from one of the oldest wineries in Valdobbiadene. We’ve paired it with Dubliner — an aged cheese with flavors that include nutty, sharp and sweet.
Chateau de Sancerre Blanc with Reserve Cheddar
You’ll start your party off with intensity with this savvy pairing. This Sauvignon Blanc is fresh, with hints of grapefruit and will go perfectly with Kerrygold’s Reserve Cheddar –that extra year of aging brings out the best flavor imaginable.
Terlato Family Vineyards Pinot Grigio with Red Leicester
For the perfect Pinot Grigio, this wine is the perfect choice with being pressed and fermented partly in neutral French oak that adds to its scrumptious complexity. The Red Leicester cheese with its tangy finish is the perfect pairing to a perfect wine.
Rutherford Hill Chardonnay with Dubliner with Stout
We love a pairing that thinks outside the box. Wine and cheese, and beer? Start with the ripe fruit flavors of the Chardonnay and pair with the Dubliner cheese that mixes sweet and nutty with a malt and caramel Irish Stout and you’ll have something truly unique, that just might be the hit of the party.
Hanna Cabernet Sauvignon with Skellig
Here’s the red we were talking about! The Hanna Cabertnet Sauvignon, with its savory and smooth flavor can definitely pull off this pairing with Kerrygold Skellig- a full-flavored cheddar.
Kracher Beerenauslese with Aged Cheddar with Irish Whiskey
This list wouldn’t be complete without adding something for our sweet tooth addiction! Most people pair their sweet dessert wines with blue cheese, but we’re tempting you to try something a bit different. How about a nutty, smooth, whiskey-infused aged cheddar with your Kracher Beerenauslese –a golden classic wine from the renowned Kracher estate in Austria.
