The 2013 Met Gala brought out the “punk” in A-List celebrities who attended this year’s gala. The theme was “Punk: Chaos to Couture” after all, and A-Listers did not think twice about embracing it. One of the major trends that stood out on the red carpet was “punk” nail design. Dark metallic hues along with pointed, glitter embellished nails were grabbing attention as celebrities made their appearance through The Met’s red carpet. Starlets showed off their glitzy mani’s through Instagram photos and experts at MARS the Salon created a quick and easy “how-to” guide inspired by Nicole Richie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Julianne Hough’s manicured designs. Only a few simple steps and you can achieve the same look from home. You can also mix and match the colors and designs to create your own personal “punk” nail design. Just remember to keep it fun, because these days, anything goes.

Nicole Richie’s Met Gala Nails (pictured above)
1. File your nails into desired shape.
2. Apply base coat, and then apply two coats of burgundy polish on your nails.
3. Swipe the polish brush to draw like the shape of heart. (Make them into heart shape)
4. Apply two coats of gold glitter polish on the rest to the origin of the nail.
5. Apply top coat for shine!
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Met Gala Nails
1. File your nails into desired shape.
2. Apply base coat, and then apply two coats of purple polish on your entire nails.
3. With a precision brush, swipe the gold glitter polish from the middle of the nail to the edge.
4. Apply top coat.
Julianne Hough’s Met Gala Nails
1. File your nails into desired shape.
2. Apply base coat, and then apply two coat of black polish on your nails.
3. Apply one coat of silver lame glitter polish on the middle finger’s nail.
4. Apply two coats of gold glitter polish on the rest to the origin of the nail.
5. Drop the loose silver glitter onto the third finger’s nail while the polish is wet.
6. Apply top coat.
