Keeping your body toned over the holiday’s takes a little bit of strategic planning. Even adding a few easy changes can make a world of difference. Whether you’re hitting the treadmill or Equinox‘s latest classes (between spa sessions and the steam room, of course), it’s all about keeping yourself on track during the busiest time of year. We caught up with a few trainer’s to find out the best tips and tricks for staying fit during the happiest (and hardest!) time of year.
Take advantage of your extra steps and time on your feet while shopping. Add an extra lap or two at the mall, stop for some bodyweight squats, lunges and push-ups instead of sitting down to rest. Use the extra weight of the shopping bags for a nice metabolic boost. See how many flights you can conquer in a minute at a time. Rest and repeat.

Eat a small healthy snack before attending holiday parties. This helps prevent over-indulging since you’re not showing up starving and you still get to enjoy the festive food.

Remember to drink 4-8 ounces of water for every 1-2 ounces of alcohol. The water will help divert dehydration that is common with alcohol consumption and assist in keeping your stomach feeling full so you don’t overindulge.

In any space at any time, incorporate body weight exercises for a full-body, bang for your buck, workout. End with a 2-3 minute meditation for stress relief to reset the mind and body.
