As soon as we’re graced with warm weather, planning unique dates becomes our number one priority. After several months of hibernating from sub zero temperatures, getting outdoors again with that special someone has us wanting to create unique memories. From planning the ultimate mid-day picnic (with every whimsical detail) to making a point to dine alfresco, here are 8 of our favorite summer date ideas.
Go kayaking together
If you’re planning an urban kayaking tour or if a quiet, serene lake off the beaten path is more your style, this can be the perfect date idea. To really feel in-sync with your partner, go for the tandem kayak—not only will communication be key, but it will be so much easier to talk with your date.
Plan a mid-day picnic
Plan the perfect picnic that can help you escape your hectic schedule and bring back a little romance to your relationship. It’s all in the details—pull out your favorite gingham blanket, find an old school picnic basket and fill it to the brim with homemade sandwiches, fresh fruit, a vegetable quiche and maybe even some apple pie to round out the experience.
Spend a day at the beach
Spending at day at the beach can be one of the most enjoyable parts of summer. But, why not find that hidden gem? Do a little research and find a new favorite beach in or around your town that can be that special place you spend with your partner.
Make a homemade pizza together
Instead of ordering out for your favorite pie, spend the time to make your own healthier pizza. Seek out local ingredients from the farmer’s market (another fun summer date idea), and make a tantalizing pizza for your movie night in.
See an outdoor concert or movie
Summertime is the best time to make the most of the warm weather by cozying up and enjoying an outdoor movie or concert. Pack some wine for two, and make a list of the summer schedule for your favorite classic movies or bands and put this date at the top of your list.
Dine alfresco
As soon as warm weather hits, we can’t wait to dine alfresco. It doesn’t matter if it’s our favorite taco joint or a romantic Italian restaurant, there’s something so special about eating outdoors.
Go for a hike
Getting outside is at the top of our list come summer and there’s nothing more beautiful than really enjoying nature. Look for somewhere with stunning views and if that’s not possible, a hike through the forest is always a unique idea (just make sure you stay on the path!).
Attend a Renaissance Festival
One of our personal favorite summer activities is attending a renaissance festival. From the medieval costumes, to the old fashioned activities—not to mention the people watching, there’s something for everyone—especially if you’re looking to break the ice.
