Broadway in Chicago is presenting the musical Once at the Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph Street) in the prominent Theatre district, now through October 27th! It begins on a set of an Irish bar that draws the audience in with an ensemble of actors and musicians playing their own instruments while you are being seated and sipping your own cocktails. The musical continues to engage with a story about a street musician from Dublin struggling to continue to pursue his dream until he meets a woman who is an unlikely match, yet emboldens him to carry on his passion.
During our preview on opening night, the outstanding cast displayed deft performances of musicians singing and dancing, ending the show with a well deserved standing ovation. Their melodies lingered with a desire to hear more as we left the show, prompting us to purchase the CD. Once, the winner of eight Tony Awards, is a beautiful story of fear and love and what happens when someone believes in you –mixed with the power of music. Tickets to Once at the Oriental Theatre are between $27 – $95. For tickets and more information, please visit www.BroadwayinChicago.com or www.oncemusical.com.
