If a perfectly picturesque destination is on the horizon, reawaken your spirit with a trip to Renaissance Esmeralda Indian Wells Resort & Spa. Set in the most dreamy of locations—against the Santa Rosa Mountains in the luxurious foothills of Coachella Valley in Palm Springs, this luxurious resort is something of a dream come true. With 560 gorgeous guestrooms, a world class spa at Spa Esmeralda, an outdoor pool with a sandy beach, hot tubs and a pool bar, elegant dining at your fingertips, and golf just steps from the property, you’ll never want to leave. Here’s what you must do when you visit Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa and Palm Springs.
Breakfast at La Cava
You don’t even need to leave the property to indulge in a great breakfast. Start the day filling up on a full buffet —filling omelets, fresh fruit, salmon and capers, need I say more? Be sure to try the most out-of-the-world fresh juice bar.
Championship Golf
While you renew yourself at the spa, your husband can begin the day with a round of golf on a world class golf course which holds a unique accolade of being the only 36-hole golf facility with both courses on Golfweek’s Top 20 “Best Courses You Can Play” in California.
Visit a Date Farm
Since you are visiting the Palm Dessert, aka the “Date Capital of the World”, you must make a visit to a Date Farm. We made a stop at Shields Date Garden where we couldn’t get enough of their date shakes.
A definite stop on your list must be a visit to the Cabazon Dinosaurs, also knows as Claude Bell’s Dinosaurs. These huge sculptured dinos are just off Interstate 10 in Cabazon, California—and are the ultimate roadside attraction!
Visiting the Joshua Tree National Park is like living the pages of National Geographic, literally. With about 800,000 acres, this desert park is a unique variation of terrain and wild life –see rugged mountains, twisted rock, and miles and miles of desert. Despite what you may think, you may spot a few animals on your trip. By day, a sighting of birds, lizards or squirrels could catch your eye. By night, the nocturnal animals will roam the desert park including snakes, bighorn sheep, kangaroo rats, coyotes and even black-tailed jack rabbits.
After your adventures seeing massive street-side dinosaurs, and visiting a national treasure, it’s time to head back to your Indian Wells Resort to spend time at their incredible pool. Feel the warm sand between your toes because this pool has it’s own beach where your kids can build sandcastles while you take in the latest Vogue.
Make a reservation for dinner at GLO Lounge at the hotel for a relaxing and casual dining experience. This lobby bar has an all-encompassing menu where you can enjoy small plates, along with a great wine list. If you’re traveling with children, there’s a great kids menu (think pizza and Cesar salad with gold fish crackers sprinkled on top). We recommend trying their variety of sushi, for a relaxing experience all around. After dinner, mingle outdoors and check out their inviting fire pits for a night cap.
