On Friday, September 28th, the Joffrey Ballet has begun their 2012-13 season by hosting an evening entitled Couture and Cocktails.
As the name implies, the evening combines an incredible fête celebrating fashion, food, cocktails and dancing to benefit the Joffrey Ballet. This year, as in years past, Kristina McGrath and Sonya Y. Jackson hosted the evening, welcoming over 400 guests to the McGrath Acura of Downtown Chicago, which was transformed into an elegant event space for the night. Neiman Marcus and Pamella Roland strutted gorgeous designs down the runway, entertaining guests with their sleek silhouettes and bold colors.
The evening included highlights such as a Luxury Garage Sale-curated silent auction, dancing with the Joffrey company members, Skinnygirl cocktails and tasty treats from some of Chicago’s well-known food trucks like Babycakes, Southern Mac & Cheese, La Adelita and Meatloaf-A-Go-Go. Tickets started at $150 and went all the way up to $1,500. Proceeds from the $275,000 raised from the event will go to help fund programs and performances for the Joffrey Ballet. Couture and Cocktails has enticed some of Chicago’s finest. With another success on Friday, it’s clear the event is a much-anticipated mainstay.-Emily Abbott and Melissa Maynard
