It really covers a range of contemporary practice - Cindy Sherman, Jay
Davis, Shirin Neshat, Mika Rottenberg, Angelina Nasso…
Tell us about your new endeavor MutualArt.com.
MutualArt.com has been two years in development. It’s a brand new
approach to harnessing the very latest internet technologies to benefit art collectors, artists, and the art community. It’s a members only service that allows you to receive recommendations for articles that interest you, exhibitions you’ll want to see and art parties you need to attend – all based on your personal preferences. We are drawing from thousands of sources, and our partners include the The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, as well as the Guggenheim, the Tate in London, and hundreds of other museums around the world.
Who is your favorite artist and why?
As the ceo of MutualArt.com, I think it’s important not to play favorites. We make every effort to embrace all styles of art.
What’s your favorite annual art party worldwide?
Art Basel and Art Basel Miami Beach – because there is so much more to them than just partying. They put together the best panel discussions, film screenings, art event...That’s why we chose to have our launch there.
Do you plan to attend Art Chicago? And, if so, what are you looking forward to?
Of course – I’m looking forward to enjoying the next step in the fabulous progress that Art Chicago is making in returning to its position as one of the great art fairs.
What is something people are surprised to find out about you?
While I’m best known as an entrepreneur and art lover, I’m also a self-taught inventor – I have a
number of patents for some of the technical innovations I’ve created.
What is your fashion style?
In a word, “casual.” I can guarantee that you will never see me in black tie!
