Tips on "Staying Fit for the Holidays"

FACTIO MAGAZINE: What are some tips on staying fit during the holidays?
AMANDA PUCK:
I’m lucky that my schedule actually slows down during December, but I do try to watch it during the holidays. I try not to overdo it with the food and cocktails, but I have a really hard time around Christmas Cookies of ANY kind.

FM: Do you follow a special meal plan?
AP: Just recently I traded in my a.m. bagel for granola, oatmeal or yogurt. And so far it's ok.  I'm not a snacker, so I eat three meals a day, and am of the school that as long as food is fresh, not processed and in moderation, it's good! We have so many great restaurant clients at XA, I don’t want to miss out on menu tastings, new dishes and holiday items.

FM: What is your typical workout at Equinox?
AP: I love meeting one of my friends there in the a.m. – it’s a great buddy system, and then we can give each other a hard time if we don’t go (I'm usually the one who doesn’t, though).  But it does work! At Equinox, I try to pack in as much in as I can – mostly cardio.  I love to do the BIG huge monster rolling stairmaster for 40 mins, spin classes, and Cardio Evolution class on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 with Tonya Dugger. Yes – I do try and get up for that every week. I try to go at least three times, more if I can, even if it's just for 30 mins. It all helps!  When I have the time I just make sure to try and fit it in.
