Meet the Fashion Designer Behind Pamella Roland Before Couture & Cocktails

Pamella DeVos of Pamella Roland is in Chicago tonight and we caught up with her quickly before tonight's show for Couture & Cockails. She just showcased her spring 2010 collection during New York Fashion Week and we can't wait to see it tonight!

FACTIO MAGAZINE: Why did you decide to be a part of Couture and Cocktails?
PAMELLA ROLAND: I am a big fan of the Joffrey Ballet-I'm thrilled to be a part of an event that supports the Joffrey.

FM: What makes this such a great event?
PR: It's an event that pulls together many of my favorite things, the Joffrey Ballet, the City of Chicago (my daughters Cassandra and Sydney both live in Chicago), and fashion.

FM: What's the theme behind your fashion show for the event?
PR: Similar to my fashion show last week at Bryant Park in New York, the theme of this show is the amazing art of Georgia O'Keeffe. her new exhibition just opened at the Whitney Museum in New York, and her art inspired my new collection.

FM: Describe your new collection and your favorite piece in the collection?
PR:
My Spring '10 collection embodies the bold spirit of O'Keeffe's work. The fabrications are simple and elegant with delicate floral laced patterns and pops of bright color.  The collection features silhouettes reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s couture designs. My favorite piece is the silver beaded tuxedo jacket.

FM: Who is your customer / What kind of woman are your designs made for?

PR: Our customer is a confident woman with great taste, one who demands a versatile wardrobe in which she feels polished without forsaking her femininity.  I work to create clothing that allows women to comfortably exude their strength and beauty.

FM: What are some trends you are seeing for the next season?

PR: For Spring '10, the trend towards metallics and sparkles continues; also, lots of bright, vivid colors; dresses are still very popular. Women want to look fresh and feminine.
