A Celebration With Dom Pérignon

The transition from Dom Pérignon Vintage 1996 to the new Vintage 1998 was celebrated on Oct. 26 in Chicago’s Kinzie Industrial Corridor. One hundred and fifteen guests, an exclusive group of buzz makers in business, fashion, arts and philanthropy, enjoyed some of the first Dom Pérignon Vintage 1998 to arrive in the United States. Chicago’s Dom Pérignon Brand Ambassador, Whitley Bouma Herbert, hosted the event.

For the rare occasion, Hollywood’s A-list event designers Along Came Mary transformed a non-descript warehouse into a luxurious sanctuary. The evening was a visual feast with interactive performers, shadow dancers and video vignettes reinforcing the concepts contained in the words: Pulpy, Creamy, Radiant, Voluptuous, Captivating and Sensuous - all descriptors of new Vintage 1998.

The chefs of Charlie Trotter’s and Trotter's to Go worked with Dom Pérignon to execute five custom food pairings to complement the new champagne. Uniformed service staff donned mysterious black masks in ode to Dom Pérignon’s new advertising campaign photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. The sensual photography, featuring Lagerfeld muse and supermodel Helena Christiansen, appeared like artwork at the event via video projections on large gold-framed screens.

Chauffeured Mercedes Benz Maybachs, the world’s most luxurious vehicles priced at $400,000, were on site to provide post event transportation for guests.

As with all initial offerings from Dom Pérignon, the Vintage 1998 was aged in the cellars for seven years before release to cultivate richness and depth . Dom Pérignon Vintage 1998 will be available in Chicago at fine wine shops in mid-November 2005 for approximately $120 per 750ml bottle.

The Who: Spotted at the party were key industry pro's including the guys from Co-exist, local artists Gary Weidner & JC Steinbrunner, Trevian Kutti from G'Bani, restaurateur/designer Jerry Kleiner, nightlife guru Billy Dec, Amanda Puck, Steve Traxler of Jam Productions, Joe Shanahan from Metro, Carrie Lannon, President of Lannon Communications and many more.
