Redmoon’s Spectacle Lunatique

On March 17, Redmoon had its annual Spectacle Lunatique event that blew away over 1,000 guests that evening. This year’s Spectacle had around "103 wild performances, 71 spectacle moments, and seven hours of madness". The theme was called the “Engineering Wonder” and the performance itself was around 45 minutes and gave a sneak peek of the theater's upcoming season of new performances. Before the actual show, there was a tattoo parlor, live auctions, and performers interacting with guests.

Held at The Hudson Club, in Chicago's historic Motor Row neighborhood, each room, especially the VIP lounge, was designed specially like art installations. This year showed glowing swans, playful monkeys, and a spectacular show featuring the self proclaimed bird prince. Redmoon truly knows how to make each and every guest feel important, especially as we were all welcomed with huge applause as we entered the venue.

Lunatique kicked off with a VIP reception at 6:30 p.m., where guests enjoyed a private Redmoon moment, and flowing cocktails curated by Barrel House Flat in Lakeview. VIP patrons also enjoyed hors d' oeuvres from the likes of Blackbird, Yusho, and Telegraph. At 8:30 p.m., another crowd joined the festivities, enjoying some pretty amazing wonder by Redmoon actors, not to mention, food trucks like Brown Bag Lunch Truck, Tamale Spaceship, and Curry Cruiser. The last group joined us by 10:30 p.m., when the space became a creativity-fueled dance party until 2 a.m. The event is one of the must-go galas of the year and will have you enwrapped in a playful wonderland of mind stimulation.

Redmoon is a theater company in Chicago that engages in large spectacle events and uses many special effects to achieve a certain type of visual language of the arts. Through believing art is universal, they use music, outdoor environments, mechanical techniques, and special characters to produce great shows. Proceeds benefits Redmoon’s Neighborhood Arts Programming, community partnerships, and outdoor public art performance work across Chicago.

We're sure Redmoon will have even more in store for next year. Every year tops the one before with their delightfully strange performances.   For more information on Redmoon and to catch wonder throughout the year, visit www.redmoon.org
