Paul Costelloe kept it simple this spring with lots of solid colors and timeless shapes.
Costelloe paired chocolate brown with crisp whites and used geometric lines and inorganic shapes to keep each look very clean and structured. Speaking of structured, there was a surplus of structured dresses on the runway, each one unique in itself due to cut, color or print but many were adorned with oversized bowties, very reminiscent of YSL’s autumn/winter 1983/84 collection. These party dresses were trendy and different but not too funky to be wearable. Expect one or two to hit the red carpet this season. With a recession that has everyone feeling overwhelmed and confused, Paul Costelloe keeps it simple and brings us back to our relaxed ways.-Tracey Johnsen
