Jake Owners Open a Second Store on the Gold Coast

Chicago style icons Jim Wetzel and Lance Lawson have proven once again that they have the key to success when it comes to style in the Midwest. On Thursday, September 22, 2005, they hosted a party to introduce their second Jake store, at 939 Rush Street, to savvy Chicagoans.

From 6-9 pm guests were able to browse Jake for pieces from up-and-coming designers, such as Orlando Espinoza, Rag and Bone, 3.1 by Phillip Lim, and Doo Ri, while they sipped on champagne and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres. The new Jake store truly allows the designs to speak for themselves, as the atmosphere is simplisticly modern, yet inviting. As always, the staff at Jake was more than willing to squeeze through the crowd to help out shoppers find anything from the perfect pair of jeans to an outfit for a night out.

Wetzel and Lawson decided to downplay their denim selection in the new Gold Coast store to make room for a trendy shoe collection brought
in by their friend Arlene Matthews, who is a showroom owner. Women will be able to top off any unique look by wearing shoes from fashionable new designers Beatriz Ong and Loeffler Randall.

After the party, guests went next store to the fashionable Le Passage nightclub to continue the celebration. Those that decided to contribute $20 to “Think Pink,” an event that was being held at the same time to benefit the American Cancer Society, received gift bags, a razor phone from T-Mobile and the chance to win a one night stay at Chicago’s chic W Hotel.

If you missed the launch party at Jake, they will have plenty of other worthwhile events this fall including appearances by Katie Zorn and Oliver Spencer.
